Who we are and waht we do

The KOKOJOO Foundation is an internationally active organization that strives to create a more resilient and equitable cocoa industry by addressing existing disparities and exclusion within the sector. The foundation’s mission is rooted in the philosophy of its parent entity, the Brand KOKOJOO, which emphasizes sustainability and creating value in the raw material’s country of origin, West Africa.

Therefore, the KOKOJOO Foundation’s mission is to build an inclusive and diverse cocoa industry that transcends familiar patterns in this industry, : Black and African people grow cocoa, while the associated economic power and value creation remain in the hands of companies and brands run by European and white people. The KOKOJOO Foundation is working to address this long-overdue issue of restorative justice.

To successfully fulfill our mission, we are working toward three sub-goals.

Our Mission is threefold

Creating and implementing new ways to reduce the waste of resources in the cocoa sector.

Creating and implementing opportunities to generate more income for cocoa farmers in West Africa

Approaches to creating and consolidating black or African ownership in the cocoa industry

To achieve our mission, we at KOKOJOO Foundation develop and implement innovative, cross-sector solutions with partners or independently through our various initiatives, programs, and projects. These solutions fall within three interconnected core focus areas.

Work Focus
Knowledge

Research, development and knowledge transfer

Work Focus
Empowernment

Fostering African and Black-owned Cacao Entrepreneurship

The KOKOJOO Foundation has been established by Dayog Kabore, founder of KOKOJOO, among other things. KOKOJOOis the world’s first and award-winning drink made from cocoa bean shells and cocoa juice. He is also the founder of TFJC—The Full Joy of Cocoa—a brand of cocoa fruit food and drink products made from upcycling the whole cocoa fruit. Our story also goes back to 2018.
